Taping & Finishing

Finishing a drywall joint with a trowel

Taping, mudding and sanding new drywall to the level your project needs: from Level 3 for textured walls to a Level 5 skim coat for smooth walls under strong light.

Joints, inside corners and corner bead get the same care, so nothing shows once the paint goes on.

The finish is what you look at every day

Great framing and hanging can still look bad with a rushed finish. We apply thin coats, let them dry, and sand with dust control so your house doesn’t end up covered in white powder.

How we do it

01
Tape
Paper or mesh tape bedded into every joint and corner.
02
Fill coats
Two or more coats, each one dry before the next.
03
Sand & check
Sanded smooth and checked with a work light.
04
Prime-ready
Clean, smooth walls ready for primer and paint.

Checked under light, not in the dark

We inspect every wall with a work light held at an angle, the same way the afternoon sun will hit it. Ridges and edges get fixed before we call it done. Get a free estimate.

Questions we get about taping and finishing

What drywall finish level do I need?

Most homes use Level 4. Rooms with big windows, glossy paint or smooth ceilings look better with Level 5.

Usually three: tape coat, fill coat and finish coat, plus a skim coat on Level 5 jobs.

About 24 hours per coat, depending on humidity and temperature.

Yes. We check it first and tell you if anything needs fixing before we tape.
